Swimming and Your Veins

As if the hot sun wasn’t enough reason for you to spend your summer in the pool, we have one more reason that we think might persuade you to get into the water this summer. 

When you are in water, gravity is unable to affect the veins in your leg which only happens in water, outer space, or when you stand on your head.  So, water seems to be the best option and while gravity seems to the key reason for vein diseases, spending a little time in water to take the pressure off for a little bit is a good idea. This doesn’t mean you need to be swimming laps in the pool for anything to happen. Simple kicking in the water can have just as great a benefit when it comes to healthy veins. 

As well as working to fight varicose and spider veins in your legs, pool therapy can also work to relieve the pain and discomfort that can be brought up with spider and varicose veins. 

Treading water also has a lot of health benefits for your body outside of just healthy veins. For example, swimming can help tone your body, improve flexibility, reduce stress, improve oxygen use and provide low-impact, low-injury exercises.
