Conservative treatment methods will not cure or eliminate existing vein problems, however they will help to slow the progression of the disease and alleviate symptoms such as swelling, aching, and cramping. They are alternative treatments for people who are sick, elderly or pregnant.

Insurance carriers and Medicare often cover varicose vein treatments. Spider veins are usually not covered, as they are deemed cosmetic in nature.
